BOSNIA (VINnews) — Lev Tahor cult members are being deported from Bosnia, according to local media reports in the region.

Bosnian authorities are cracking down on the dozens of members of the extremist Jewish group, after local residents reported their presence.

Thirty-seven of the group’s estimated 200-300 loyalists are believed to have relocated to Bosnia in November. They were reportedly living there legally on three-month visas which are about to expire. Local residents apparently discovered the group after seeing pictures in media reports of the cult members traveling through the Middle East.

Members of the Jewish extremist haredi cult Lev Tahor have allegedly been spotted in Bosnia and Herzegovina, having seemingly moved to the Balkan country before the end of 2021, Bosnian news outlets reported.

According to the Bosnian Service for Foreigner's Affairs, as cited by Bosnian outlet Klix.ba, there are 37 foreign nationals that seem to fit the profile of Lev Tahor members that currently live in country.

Specifically, they seem to be living on the property of Savo Vulića, a politician who is a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, one of the two entities inside of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For days, a group of Jews, who are assumed to be members of the Orthodox Lev Tahor, who arrived in BiH last December and have been staying in a couple of residential buildings in East Sarajevo, have been attracting a lot of public attention for days. The non-resident rabbi of the Jewish community in Sarajevo, Eliezer Papo, spoke for N1 about the cultural specificities of this group.

"It is a small, completely irrelevant minor group. About 40 to 50 families, a total of up to 1,000 members worldwide. There is no reason to worry. These people are simply looking for a place where no one will interfere in their internal affairs, and they probably got the impression that BiH is a bit of a dead country," said Eliezer Papo for N1.
